Who knows where the time goes?

This is not so much a blog post as a generalised lament: I wish I had more time to devote to gaming. As it stands, I run a Pendragon game on a sort-of weekly basis, and every day I try to work on something Yoon-Suin related even if only for 30 minutes or so, but, off the top of my head, I also want to:

  • Run an Ars Magica game set in 19th-century Northumberland
  • Run a sandbox game in the setting for the Sorcery! gamebooks, the Old World
  • Run a Warhammer FRP game in the Border Princes using Renegade Crowns
  • Create a Labyrinth Lord-based cyberpunk game
  • Develop an underworld-based trading game

How will I ever fit this in around my job, my other job, and all the other things I like doing (working out, hiking, football, reading, etc.)? Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Khorne...if you're out there, I'm offering you a Faustian bargain here and now. Give me an extra 50 years and my soul is gladly yours.

  1. As a long time follower of Khorne, I can assure you you're plea is falling on deaf ears with that one.

    1. Even if (hypothetically) I used the extra 50 years to wage bloody war across the galaxy?

  2. Certainly don't quit your job, turn a homeless shelter into an OSR artist's retreat, and play Ars Magica around a 55gal drum of burning garbage beneath a bridge with dice made from cat bones and character sheets made from menus.

For starters, if you don't have internet, I'd never get to hear about it.

    1. Tch, get real. Why bother fiddling with cat bones? I'll just run Amber Diceless and Nobilis.

  3. Every time I wish I had unlimited time to read/game/etc, I think about that infamous Twilight Zone episode with Burgess Meredith. Then I chide myself about remembering to be humble, and thankful for the free time I already have (what little there is...ach, there I go again!!)

  4. I think I'm going to blog later today about the games I want to run/play; will see if I can find spare hours in the week for running/playing them!

  5. "Give me an extra 50 years and my soul is gladly yours."
This sounds dangerous. In 50 extra years you'd probably find that the 50 extra years of extra content would prevent you from getting to everything.

I'd suggest asking for 8 to 12 extra hours a day in your already alloted span. Not having to sleep would probably be sufficient and Cthulhu can probably help with that one...
