Yoon-Suin Hardback Version: Errata Help

I am thinking of putting out the much-requested hardback version of Yoon-Suin.
This will not be an all-singing, all-dancing fancy 2nd edition kickstarter, or anything like that, but just a hardback option available alongside the paperback version on Lulu for those who want it.
That said, while the substance of the text won't change, it will be an opportunity to tidy up the layout a bit and also fix ideally all the errata in the existing version. (I'll also update the PDF and paperback versions accordingly and, if I can think of any efficient and easy way to do it, offer a method for getting the updated PDF to existing purchasers for free.)
To that end, can you let me know what errors or inconsistencies you have found in the text of Yoon-Suin? Whether it's just one thing or a billion. Obviously I will be going through the text myself with a fine-toothed comb, but one pair of eyes is never enough for these things.
Either post here or contact me directly if you know how. Thanks!

  2. Finally bought yoon-suin (pdf) this morning. Am now eating (messily) while reading. Quite entertaining so far!

  3. Not sure it's an error exactly, but I have noticed that the Belu listed in the bestiary isn't mentioned anywhere else, in lairs etc. Might big a bigger change than you're looking for though

    1. Really?? That's weird. I'll take a look myself.

  4. The hexmaps printed in shades of gray lack contrast : hard to read, to understand and to use.

Less a problem, the drawn maps are, on the contrary, too contrasted. The fine lines are almost invisible because there are large patches of very deep black (water) who distract the eye (or whatever reason, I'm no specialist and just write what I feel).

    1. Yeah, the maps are piss poor really - I will have to improve that. (Not the artist's fault - my crappy layout skills.)

the city to the ground with fire.

  8. Perhaps they are lifting it out of subterranean caves via combustion?

  9. A very minor punctuation point: there are a few instances of an -ly adverb being hyphenated in a compound modifier (e.g. "newly-forged tulwar"). That's generally considered an error, as the adverb can't possibly modify the noun ("newly tulwar"), so there's no need for the hyphen.

The only adverbs that usually get hyphens are those that could be confused with adjectives (a "well-liked man" might be unhealthy or even dead; a "well, liked man" is both healthy and popular).

    Here are the instances:

    p. 12: "newly-forged tulwar" should be "newly forged tulwar".
    p. 154: "constantly-smouldering pit" should be "constantly smouldering pit".
    p. 155: "freshly-forged weapons" should be "freshly forged weapons".

Also, there are a few places where a hyphen occurs when an en-dash is required (i.e. between two spaces). I can't do a search for them in Adobe because it ignores the spaces, but you can probably catch them easily enough in your typesetting program. They're probably ones that didn't "stretch" because you paused in typing the original manuscript.

I should add that Yoon-Suin is already a remarkably "clean" manuscript.

    1. Kind of you to say so but I don't think it remotely is! Every time I open it (not all that often, admittedly) I find something wrong.

  10. I haven't really combed through the book, though one thing about the book that is bothersome is that the Lamarakh and Lower Druk Yul section don't have tables for the lairs so you can't quickly skim for what lair you have rolled when you are rolling up lairs.
Also, this might be too much for the hardback but Lower Druk Yul doesn't have an 'other ideas for lairs' section in it.

  11. On page 227 rival agents are referenced "fermenting" rebellion.
